Primary immune cells are immune cells directly isolated from human or animal tissues, including peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), T cells, B cells, NK cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Compared with immortalized cell lines, primary immune cells generally exhibit more physiologically relevant phenotypes, receptor expression patterns, and functional characteristics, making them particularly suitable for studies involving immune cell activation, differentiation, cell–cell interactions, immunopharmacology, and disease mechanisms.
